Three jailed charged with lottery ticket theft

Three men jailed at Walhalla are charged with stealing a rack of lottery tickets from a store near Salem. Oconee sheriff’s officers made the arrests in their investigation of a burglary at Little River General Store on the Alexander Road. The tickets carry a value of nearly $7 thousand. Those arrested and charged were identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Walhalla residents Jon Conner Wacaster, 18, accessory before the fact of a felony; Devin Ian McCrackin, 19, second degree burglary and grand larceny; and Richard Lewis Rittmayer, 27, second degree burglary and grand larceny. Wacaster and McCrackin are also accused of what the Sheriff’s Office called “the intent to defraud the South Carolina Education Lottery” by trying to cash tickets at two other stores.
