Tigers, Gamecocks collect road wins

Georgia native Tyler Slaton totaled a career-high four hits and Georgia native Matthew Crownover pitched 5.0 strong innings to lead Clemson to a 9-1 win over Georgia in front of 1,484 fans at a chilly Foley Field in Athens on Tuesday night. The Tigers, who took a 1-0 lead in the home-and-home, midweek series, improved to 16-8 on the season. The Bulldogs fell to 8-17 in 2013. The two teams meet up again Wednesday night at 7:00 PM in Clemson.

Elsewhere, Colby Holmes worked 7.1 innings and allowed just one run on four hits with a season-high eight strikeouts and 14th ranked South Carolina scored twice in the first inning on the way to a 3-1 win over College of Charleston on Tuesday evening at Patriots Point. The Gamecocks improve to 19-6 with College of Charleston falling to 13-11 on the year.
