Time draws near for tax raise?

District Five’s Reg Dexter said aloud last night what others on council obviously have given thought.  If the council is going to say yes to this and that when it comes to spending requests, won’t the county have to raise taxes?  The council had just voted to appropriate a little more than $46 and a half thousand dollars to allow the Sheriff’s Office to hire two more investigators and heard the county administrator lay out a schedule for when the bills will come due for Tri-County Technical College projects.  Sheriff Mike Crenshaw told the council that Oconeeans he has spoken to have told him they would be willing to pay more tax if it were applied to fighting crime. In a tax-related matter, the council gave the second of two readings delaying the implementation of re-assessment for one year.
