Time to start drawing tornado safety posters

Oconee County Emergency Services is announcing details of its annual Tornado Safety Poster Contest.  This contest helps acquaints children with the dangers of tornadoes and is a reminder to adults about what can happen when the skies turn bad.  The contest is open to all students in grades 1-6 in Oconee schools.  There will be a winner, runner-up, and honorable mention in each grade level and one overall grand prize winner.  According to an announcement by Scott Krein, deputy chief of emergency management and special operations, winners will be judged between February 27 and March 3.  An awards ceremony with certificates and cash prizes takes place March 16.
