Tractor-trailer leaks hazardous chemical

May 12, 2014

Anderson County HAZMAT responders and other emergency responders were mitigating what was described as a small leak of hydrogen chloride this morning from a tractor-trailer truck. The mishap scene is I-85 northbound at the nine-mile marker. Capt. Matthew Littleton of the Anderson Sheriff’s Office says it became necessary to order an evacuation within a 300-foot radius. A motorist spotted the leak and was able to attract the attention of the tractor-trailer driver, who pulled to the side of the highway.
