Traffic fatality near Salem

A 75-year old Salem woman died Saturday at Greenville Memorial Hospital after being hospitalized for injuries in a two-vehicle accident. Coroner Karl Addis said the accident that took the life of Carol Hunter occurred around 11 o’clock Saturday morning, as she was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, Samuel O’Dell Hunter. According to the coroner, the accident involved a second vehicle and occurred as the Hunter car attempted to make a turn. Mrs. Hunter was first treated at the Oconee Memorial Hospital where it was determined she was found to have had a cervical vertebrae fracture. State troopers investigated.
