Training mission this afternoon

A military helicopter that will fly and make landings this afternoon in the mountainous areas of both Oconee and Pickens won’t be lost. The National Guard helicopter will be preparing for a future training event involving Oconee County Emergency Services and the SC HART team, which has been used to assist in several Oconee County incidents including the search last summer for a Tennessee man missing on the Chattooga River. According to Charlie King, Oconee County Fire Chief, the aircraft today will take off and land at locations to document the surrounding area and to test communications. More information about the planned October 19 and 20 training event will be announced, as the dates near.
