Transportation bill signed

Governor Nikki Haley signed the state’s infrastructure transportation bill which she says makes a substantial investment toward the state’s worsening roads and bridges. During a ceremony, Haley explained House bill 3360 will be a jobs saver. The DOT will transfer $50 million a year to an infrastructure bank. Fifty percent of the sales tax collected on motor vehicle purchases will be directed for highway, road and bridge maintenance, construction and repair. Up to $50 million in surplus General Fund revenues are to be transferred as a match for bridge projects for which federal matching funds are available.
