Trial may run into Oktoberfest weekend

At the judge’s request, the jurors in the Oconee Common Pleas trial decided by a poll against a one-half day session of court on Saturday. Judge Lawton McIntosh accepted the jurors’ preference to take tomorrow as a day of rest but warned, if needed, he may extend the trial into Oktoberfest weekend next week. So far in week one in the damage lawsuit pitting the Oconee airport runway general contractor against the county, only three witnesses have completed their testimony. There’s the potential for 50 or more witnesses to be called. Late yesterday afternoon attorneys finished their questioning of plaintiff’s witness Shane Hall, who served as Plateau Excavation’s manager for the runway/taxiway project. The trial resumes at 9 this morning.
