Truck driver ticketed

The State Patrol has announced a citation of too fast for conditions has been issued to the driver of a semi-truck involved in today’s accident with a “CAT” bus near Seneca. Trooper Gary Miller said the ticket was issued to Westminster resident Jeremy Kane Godwin, whose semi-truck was pulling a flatbed trailer. Godwin was uninjured but eight of the 12 people aboard the Clemson Area Transit bus were taken to Oconee hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Bus driver Yvonne Haynes Bowen was not hurt. According to Trooper Miller, the accident occurred at 123 and the Carson Road, in the Clemson-bound lanes, as the bus had stopped to allow a passenger to get off. The accident was reported at 10:35 this morning. Seneca City Administrator Greg Dietterick said the electric-powered bus was running an express route this morning between Seneca and Clemson and, although damaged, appeared to be driveable.
