Trump carries Oconee

Republican voters in Oconee showed their preference tonight for Donald Trump.  They gave the New Yorker a little more than 28 and a quarter percent of the 15,674 votes cast countywide.  Trump’s unofficial winning total:  4,424 votes.  He led most of the night.  Finishing second:  Marco Rubio, with 25.59% and Ted Cruz third at 20.23%.  Trump carried most of Oconee’s 33 precincts.  Exceptions were Stamp Creek and Absentee, both of which went into the Rubio column.  Placing a distant fourth was Jeb Bush at 8.90%.  Oconee’s voter turnout was 34%.
