Apparently it’s now official. Paul Cain is the Oconee County councilman-elect from District Three. Joy Brooks, elections director, said this morning that, with no provisional ballots to canvass, Tuesday’s unofficial results stand. Cain’s winning total was 309 votes. Ernest Riley received 269. Ten other voters Tuesday wrote in the names of others. Beth Hulse, clerk to the Oconee County Council, said Cain’s oath of office is planned for a ceremony at 5 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, June 3–an hour before the start of council’s regular first Tuesday meeting. By this morning, a judge to administer the oath had yet to be selected.
