Two hurt in Westminster mishap

Last night’s accident in Westminster injured two people and left thousands of dollars in property damage. The police say a Chevy SUV, driven by Westminster resident Patricia Baker, left SC 183 and struck a commercial building at the 123-183 intersection. The impact dropped the building awning on top of the car. Chief Dean Awalt said Baker was treated for minor injuries at the hospital. A second person, standing by the building, was struck by a brick dislodged when the SUV hit the pillar support. Another vehicle parked underneath the building awning also sustained damage. Awalt says the police issued a citation to Baker, charging too fast for conditions. The accident occurred at 7 o’clock. The building was recently occupied by a vehicle detailing business belonging to Sanford Towing of Westminster.
