Two meetings will cover Thorsland’s evaluation

Oconee school trustees are likely to require two meetings before they complete their evaluation of first-year superintendent, Dr. Michael Thorsland. The meetings are planned at 8 o’clock tomorrow morning at the Walhalla Middle School and during Monday night’s regular June meeting of the trustee board. Both meetings, as they apply to Thorsland’s evaluation, are planned for closed sessions. Tomorrow’s meeting is designed to allow the trustees, when they finish, to have close and quick access to the Walhalla High football stadium for attending the graduation ceremony for the school’s class of 2015. Chairman Andy Inabinett says what the trustees cover tomorrow will be fodder for Monday’s executive session, at which they are likely to reach a consensus. Thorsland is completing the first year in a three-year contract. Inabinet indicates if the trustees like how Thorsland has guided the district since the retirement last year of Dr. Mike Lucas they might offer to extend the deal another year.
