Up, up go West Union fees

West Union Town Council gave preliminary approval last night to raising the basic tap fee for a standard three-quarter inch line into the town’s water system. For customers inside the town, the increase will amount to $500 dollars. Outside customers would be charged a fee of $1,700. Council members say the new schedule brings West Union in line with other municipalities and better helps cover the cost of installation. On the advice of Mayor Linda Oliver, the council tabled a plan to lower sewer rates. West Union relies on Walhalla for its water supply and sewer collection.
