US ACOE recognized for Lake Hartwell cleanup

The Lake Hartwell project of the Army Corps of Engineers earned recognition from Georgia for the project’s efforts during the annual lake cleanup campaign. Rivers Alive, an outreach program led by the Environmental Protection Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources presents the Government Partner of the Year Award to recognize the government entity that holds the most successful clean-up and exemplifies the Rivers Alive mission. During last August and September, 450 volunteers gave 3,600 hours and removed 9,000 pounds of trash from the banks of the lake.
