Utility crews hit rock, and it’s expensive

 

Walhalla fears have been realized. The crews at work to lay new water lines in the Chicopee Mill village have encountered rock formations, and it’s an expensive proposition. Scott Parris, utilities superintendent, at City Hall last night estimated, so far, $23 thousand out of a Community Development Block grant has had to be expended on removing the rock, and he predicts more rock will be found.
