Utility gives boost to Tech’s satellite campus project

At the request of Tri-County Technical College, the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative has approved $100 thousand toward Tech’s plans to build a campus in Oconee County.  The campus is to be built inside the county’s Information and Technology Park on n. highway 11, within the boundaries of Blue Ridge’s service territory.  Tech’s request was approved during a meeting Tuesday of the Blue Ridge board of directors. Terry Ballenger, spokesman for the utility, says the money is to be paid toward the college project in increments of $20 thousand over five years.  “We see a number of our Blue Ridge members certainly going and taking courses there.  We also have employees who better themselves taking courses there,” Ballenger said in an interview with 101.7/WGOG NEWS.
