A drag racer from the Pickens County town of Central is being described as a sensation in her sport, and Valerie Clements’ motorsports career now takes her to Watson Racing of Michigan. For the first time, Watson will field an entry in the Renegade Eliminator category of the National Mustang Racers Association. Clements begins her 2014 campaign this weekend in Bradenton, Florida at the helm of her SCT Performance-sponsored 2005 Mustang. She’ll debut her new Watson Racing 2014 Mustang May 2-4 at the NMRA Nationals at Budds Creek, Maryland. Clements, 20 years old, started competitive racing at the age of 8 in a junior dragster competition in her hometown of Central. Racing is in the family blood. Family patriarch Alton Clements was the first to make waves before his son, Alton Jr., became one of the original entries in the Renegade class.
