Verdict today? Tonight?

Closing arguments are scheduled this morning in the Oconee County civil case Reynolds versus Sava Senior Care. And, once the judge instructs the jury on the law, 12 Oconeeans will retire to a room on the fourth floor of the courthouse to produce a verdict. That verdict is to decide a three-week trial in which lawyers for plaintiff Russell Reynolds III have tried to make a case that Seneca Health and Rehabilitation committed medical malpractice leading to the death of Reynolds’ mother, Dorothy. The plaintiff has attempted to show that the care given Dorothy Reynolds was below the acceptable standard. The defense has countered that the staff and management of Seneca Health and Rehabilitation exercised professional and caring attention to Reynolds whose condition, for a woman in her late 80’s, required special attention for which the staff responded.
