Video will catch drivers who break school bus law

Video cameras may now record evidence of motorists who illegally pass a stopped school bus in South Carolina. And, as was pointed out during a Greenville news conference today, the authority comes from changes to the law. State Senator Thomas Alexander says the stories he is hearing about the extent to which the school bus stop law is being violated are “unbelievable.” And it’s happening, says the Oconee-Pickens Republican, for whatever reason—such as inattentive driving. The main reason for the law is safety, but it can be injurious to the offender. For first offense failing to stop for a stopped school bus, it’s a minimum $500 dollar fine, six points off your driver’s license, or 30 days in jail.
