Vietnam theme to this year’s parade

About seven inches of rain so far this month—and more falling.  However, Oconee’s veterans appear to be in line for some good luck Wednesday.  Jerry Dyar, director of veterans’ affairs, says the forecast for calls for a sunny sky and temperatures in the 60s for the annual Veterans Day parade.  This year the parade will be in Westminster, and roll down Main Street at 4:30 in the afternoon.  This year’s theme is centered on the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.  Vietnam veterans who received Purple Hearts are the special grand marshals for the parade.  This year’s parade will assemble on Main Street in the vicinity of Waters Restaurant and the Methodist church and proceed west on Main to the Depot area.
