Visibility better near the Pinnacle Mountain fire

Fire fighters and related personnel are noticing better visibility today near the Pickens County Pinnacle mountain fire.  But the toll there is increasing–now at 5,095 acres.  Crews are taking hand tools to clear areas at the edge of the fire, turning over smoldering logs to allow the spraying of water from ATVs to cool off what is smoldering, according to the spokesman for the state Commission on Forestry.  The spokeman, Russell Hubright, says they are making preparations to deal tomorrow with winds that are forecast to be between 15 and 25 miles an hour or higher and the potential they’ll cause to spread the fire.
