Volunteers make OC libraries better

Volunteers remain vital to making Oconee libraries go. Three of those volunteers walked away with recognition from last week’s awards and recognition dinner—the fourth annual event. The Lucile Bellotte Moore Award went to Nancy Ann Woods. She volunteers as the Friends of the Library membership chair, attends meetings of the area Newcomers, and maintains and updates the Friends’ membership list and brochure. The Sarah Mills Norton Volunteer of the Year Award went to Jean Snellings, a bookmobile volunteer since 2010. Ann Rogers received special recognition for volunteering more than 1,000 hours. She has worked many hours in the South Carolina Room of the Walhalla Library. And last year Rogers was recognized by Governor Haley. If you are interested in volunteering in the libraries, stop by your local branch or contact Janice Lovingood at 638-4137.
