Voter registration deadline

To cast a ballot in this year’s General Election, South Carolinians must be registered in good standing by this Saturday. Joy Scharich, the director of Oconee Registration and Elections, said this morning that if you already are a registered voter, you need not take any action between now and this Saturday’s deadline. But for those who are not registered, here’s how to get signed up: In person registration is 8:30 to 5 today through Friday at the county office at 415 S. Pine Street in Walhalla. Faxed or email registrations must be dated Saturday, October 4 or prior. Online voter registration at www.scvotes.org must be dated before Saturday. Registration by mal must be postmarked October 4 or earlier. Printable applications can also be found on www.scvotes.org. And tomorrow is the day that Oconee’s absentee precinct will open.
