Voters make their selections tomorrow

Just one more day before Oconeeans and South Carolinians enter the voting booths to make their choices in the 2014 General Election. There are choices for Governor and federal representatives in Washington, among others. Locally, voters in District One will choose between Jerry Lee and Allen Brewer for a seat on the Oconee School Board. What has a lot of Oconee voters talking is the proposition to add a penny to the sales tax to pay for a handful of community improvement projects—such as an indoor pool and new libraries. The referendum has its share of supporters and opponents. The idea of an extra penny tax was formally introduced several months ago by a commission tasked by the county to study the proposition. A second Oconee County referendum tomorrow proposes the idea of Sunday alcohol sales. Voting takes place tomorrow 7 a-m to 7 p-m.
