Votes count today in two Oconee towns

Atop the hour (at 7 a-m,) Walhalla and Westminster voters may begin to cast their ballots to fill city council seats in their cities. Voting takes place at each city’s fire department and will continue until 7 tonight. In both Walhalla and Westminster, it’s a six-for-three proposition—meaning that each ballot contains the names of six candidates competing for three seats. Winners get to serve four-year terms. Results are to be announced tonight by the Oconee Election Commission at the county’s administrative complex in Walhalla.
