Game plan for those annoying potholes

The severe winter weather was no friend to the condition of the state-maintained roads and highways in Oconee County. Mike Smith, resident maintenance engineer for the DOT, says crews are now working extended hours to fill potholes. They are aware of many of the potholes, but the public is invited to report potholes by calling 864/647-0798 or through the internet at www.scdot.org. By the end of this week, according to Smith, vegetation left by the recent storms should be cleaned up. “Hopefully, the winter weather is over and we can get all of these potholes addressed within the next couple of weeks. I ask that the public be cautious of the road hazards and be patient as we get them repaired,” he said.
