Councilman changes tune about “CAT” buses

The Seneca area member of Oconee County Council concedes he has been a skeptic when it comes to the need to expand bus service to other parts of the county. But a ride on a “CAT” bus last week has convinced Paul Cain that the county should make a new effort to determine if there would be sufficient rider ship to justify expanded routes. Cain said the ride he took with Seneca officials and other supporters CAT supporters was 75 to 80% full, and he was impressed by how much riders rely on the free services to get them to and from places. Last night the District Three councilman persuaded his colleagues to ask Seneca to try to leverage a grant that would pay for pilot runs between Seneca and Walhalla. At the request of District Four’s Joel Thrift, Cain agreed to amend his motion to include pilot runs to Westminster.
