Walhalla and Westminster votes certified

Oconee election commissioners certified the results today of this week’s balloting in two of the three towns where elections were held.  The commission took no action on the result from the Town of Salem, as that town still holds elections independent from the county office of Registration and Elections.  After a few provisional and failsafe ballots were added to Tuesday’s totals, there are no changes in the order of finish in either Walhalla or Westminster.  But, a couple of winning candidates, such as the Walhalla mayoral candidates and one of the two candidates for Westminster mayor saw their totals increase by between one and four votes.  Here are the voting percentage turnouts in each of the three towns:  Salem, 59% of those eligible cast ballots.  In Westminster, the turnout was 23.1%.  Walhalla was the lowest of the three at 17.2%.
