Walhalla Councilwoman has cancer

Confirmation today, via a report in The Journal, of the cancer being fought by a Walhalla City Councilwoman. Kathy Rogers, who serves Oconee as the director of its American Red Cross chapter, is dealing with the disease after doctors found tumors in her brain, lungs, and possibly liver. The fifty-eight year old was elected to Walhalla’s council less than a year ago after running at the urging of her former high school friend, Mayor Danny Edwards. A fund has been established at South State Bank in Seneca to help Rogers with her medical costs. The bank is located at 201 Highway 123. The full story, and other ways to help, can be found in today’s Journal article written by Norman Cannada.
