Walhalla embarks on Streetscape

Tugaloo, late on the work day partly to symbolize hope that in the future the core business district downtown will enjoy greater commerce and activity. Some of the city’s leaders put on hard hats and reflective jackets for the groundbreaking for Streetscape. Building and parking lot owner Bob Littleton was glad to see the day finally arrive. “I think it will change it for good. That’s my opinion,” Littleton told 96.3/WGOG NEWS moments before the groundbreaking. The company owned by Danny Hutchinson, an Oconee County contractor, will serve as general contractor for the project. One advantage of that, he told us, is that the wages paid workers will stay locally. “We think we can do the project in roughly six months. We hope it turns out to be beautiful…, he said.
