Walhalla hit again by recreation vandals

Walhalla has seen a second incident this week of vandalism of recreation facilities. But, like the first one Sunday, the police have made arrests in both cases. The latest crime was discovered last evening when a recreation worker discovered people climbing a fence in front of the basketball court on the grounds of the swimming pool. The weight from that climb collapsed the fence, and the police have charged two individuals. Capt. Paul Harris says a juvenile has been referred to the Family Court and a warrant charging malicious damage to real property is to be served this afternoon on a second person of adult age. Earlier this week the police arrested two people in an incident in which sidewalk chalk was used to deface facilities at Sertoma Field. A third case of vandalism was found in January in a bathroom at the swimming pool, and the police continue to investigate that case.
