Walhalla JROTC speaker stresses an active life

An Oconee native who has made his life a military career urged Walhalla students to do something positive with their lives, and he gave them suggestions. Army Lt. Col. Mark Winkler spoke during the recent annual Walhalla High JROTC banquet. He was speaking to an audience that included his niece, Walhalla senior Michelle Aubert. More than anything, Winkler urged the ROTC students to avoid standing still in life and to stay determined to do something for the good. He said, “What you are learning or have learned in this program is a good start. JROTC has taught you about planning, about serving your community, about being a well-rounded, productive citizen.”
