Walhalla Library expands its holdings

landOconee County this month bought an adjoining lot for the benefit of the Walhalla public library.  At the request of the county library board, money in the current library budget allowed for the purchase of 1.167 acres across Westview Street from the library parking lot (left).  According to Phil Cheney, library director, the additional property will serve a dual purpose.  Parking can be expanded.  The lot can also be used for outdoor programs.  The Walhalla library was built in 1979, but the size of the property would not allow for expanding the parking lot.
