Walhalla Main Street property changes hands

For many years a Main Street, Walhalla property served as the city’s only funeral home.  Now a religious-based outfit will breathe new life into the building there.  Christ Central Ministries previously was approved for a one-year lease to use the county detention center, once the new jail building is occupied.  Sources tell 101.7/WGOG NEWS that CCM will now use the former Davenport Funeral Home, on the Main Street block between Tugaloo and College, for offices and a thrift shop.  A county deed recording the transaction shows CCM paid Richard Addis $180 thousand for the property.  It means that the faith-based outfit, which has been operating on S. John Street, will now have two new Walhalla locations.  It intends to use the former jail to help and rehabilitate former county prisoners and others in the community who need help.
