Walhalla student has lofty ambitions

A 16-year old student at Walhalla High School has lofty ambitions, and the local Rotary Club will help Lauren Long achieve the full life to which she aspires. Lauren, a junior in high school, has been named by Walhalla Rotary Club as a short-term exchange student which means that, in 2015-16, she will have the chance as a Rotary International exchange student, possibly in Germany, Italy, Spain, France, or The Netherlands. Lauren says, “Community service activities give me my greatest satisfaction.” She’s active in the club Interact, loves to hike, canoe, kayak, cook, and be with friends. Lauren plays the flute and recently was awarded “first chair” in the high school All County Orchestra. Her future goals include a college degree in music or early childhood education, a Masters and a Ph. D. Eventually, she’d like to become superintendent of schools for South Carolina.
