Walhalla to allocate $10,500 toward Ok’fest

After an executive session, Walhalla City Council allocated a total of $10,500 to help the Oktoberfest Committee and the Greater Walhalla Chamber of Commerce stage the 38th Oktoberfest Friday through Sunday, October 21-23.  The money is broken down three ways.  The Oktoberfest Committee will receive $6,500 to pay for the traditional Saturday night fireworks show.  Dwight Addis represented the Oktoberfest Committee during last night’s open session of the city council.  The Chamber of Commerce will get $3,500 to stage the downtown part of the weekend that recognizes Walhalla’s 19th century Germanic origins.  And the city will contribute $500 dollars for the annual Oktoberfest road race.
