Walhalla to push forward with Streetscape

“We are in a position now to send out bids after our November council meeting….” Walhalla’s mayor pro-tem Tjay Bagwell made the announcement last night in his Streetscape report to the annual meeting and supper of Partners for Progress. Bagwell, however, attached a condition for the bids to hit the street. “If the DOT returns the proper permits that we need,” Bagwell said. Unlike the original set of bids that came back too high, Bagwell says the city expects $1.6 million will get the job done. DOT has reduced the size of the median to 10-feet wide and Walhalla will begin to designate the location for as many as 100 new trees—the variety of which, Bagwell said, has yet to be decided.
