Walhalla’s next step toward water upgrades

April 17, 2014

Now that Walhalla has property for which it can plan for a raw water intake at Lake Keowee, what’s the city’s next ste? We spoke yesterday to Scott Parris, Walhalla utilities director. “Next is looking at the options for the overall project to see which will be most economical,” Parris said. Those options take the form of the potential for a new water plant in the vicinity of Lake Keowee and Cane Creek or the possibility that the city’s needs can be satisfied by upgrades and expansion at the 1960s plant near SC 183—the Walhalla-Westminster Highway.
