Want to get Charles Dalton’s blood boiling?

After his talk to the Oconee Economic Alliance, Charles Dalton invited questions. But he warned his audience that if asked about the Rule 111-D of the federal Clean Air Act, he’d be liable to not stop talking. The president/CEO of the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, co-ops across the country, and co-op members are alarmed by the EPA’s insistence to carry out a regulation requiring a 10% reduction in carbon emissions. A cleaner environment aside, the co-ops and their supporters fear the mandate will cause substantial increases in the cost of electric power—impacting a small, rural state such as South Carolina harder than others. “This EPA imperative must either be stopped or substantially modified,” Dalton today told the Economic Alliance business forum.
