Warrants identify defendant in Newry crimes

Warrants released by Oconee Sheriff’s Office have identified the man suspected in a series of weekend crimes in Newry—one of which victimized a state police agent. A Bayshore Eight resident, 27-year old Daniel Lloyd Stevens, is charged in arrest warrants with petty larceny, grand larceny, breaking into motor vehicles. Stevens was booked in jail Sunday afternoon. Investigators say many of the items stolen from the motor vehicles, including state equipment issued to a SLED agent have been recovered. Incident reports identify some of the stolen items as handguns and, in one instance, a baby stroller.
