Warrants Obtained Against Burdette

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office obtained warrants yesterday afternoon against 34 year old Shane Adam Burdette in the Tuesday morning shooting death of James Evan Tyner. The two warrants charge Burdette with murder and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime. The murder warrants allege that Mr. Burdette killed the victim Mr. Tyner by “shooting him with a shotgun in the back of the neck” and alleges the incident took place at 108 Mt. Pleasant Road. The possession charges alleges Mr. Burdette did have in his possession a shotgun “which was used in the commission of the violent crime of murder.” The possession warrant also indicates that Mr. Tyner was shot “in the back of the neck” at the Mt. Pleasant Road location in Oconee County. The warrants were served to Mr. Burdette around 3:50pm at the Oconee County Detention Center yesterday afternoon. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.  The funeral service for 21 year old James Evan Tyner will be Saturday at 2 pm at Sandifer Funeral home of Westminster with a visitation from 1 until 2 at the funeral home.
