Water improvement project meeting today

January 8, 2014

A meeting takes place today to plan the second phase of a project to replace old water lines in a former Walhalla textile mill village. The work will benefit residents who live in the vicinity of the former Avondale manufacturing plant, Walhalla’s last textile plant. Scott Parris, utilities director, told the mayor and city council he’s pleased to be able to get going on a project that is much needed. Some of the water lines to be replaced date back to the 1930s and ‘40s.
