Waterline along U-S 76 to be replaced

New details are being announced about the large grant received by Westminster for waterline improvements. The South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority awarded more than $240 thousand in a first round grant to replace a section of waterline along highway 76 near the city. The funds are being matched by $148 thousand from a recent Westminster revenue bond. Old and severely-deteriorating waterline is being replaced. “This new waterline will keep us from having to repeatedly cut the road to repair leaks and will improve the reliability of our service along the Long Creek Highway,” said Mayor Rick McCormick. Grants are awarded through a competitive process that identifies priority needs for improved public health, environmental protection, community sustainability and economic development.
