Wave a flag as a way to say thank you!

If you like flag waving, there are a couple of chances coming your way. Sunday is Flag Day in the U-S. And June is the month that Oconee County welcomes Marines from the Marine Corps’ South Carolina Wounded Warrior Regiment. This year’s welcoming patriotic parade takes place Monday, June 22 as a way to honor visiting Marines from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Once again, 40 Marines are expected and led by a procession of motorcyclists between Easley and Lake Keowee. The lakefront communities that will play host to the Marines ask individuals and businesses along the 123-130 parade route to display signs, wave flags, and make expressions of thanks. Upstate communities, led by Keowee Key volunteers, are partnering with the Roger C. Peace Rehabilitation Hospital of the Greenville Health System to host three and a half days of “Honoring Their Service.”
