Week of activities marked Law Enforcement Appreciation Week

A luncheon last Thursday helped bring to a close a week of activities that marked Law Enforcement Appreciation Week in Oconee County. To a retirees’ appreciation luncheon, Sheriff Mike Crenshaw made remarks and Chief Deputy Kevin Davis read a proclamation by County Council recognizing Peace Officers Memorial Day. On Friday, flags were flown half-staff at the Sheriff’s Office and at government office buildings around the country as part of Peace Officers Memorial Day. The annual Bill Schuck Memorial Blood Drive raised 43 pints of blood for the Blood Connection. By Monday morning, more than $900 dollars had been collected thru the sale of commemorative t-shirts. The money goes to a scholarship in the name of the deputy who died in an accident while on duty.
