West-Oak FFA competes in national convention

Seven West-Oak students and four recent graduates were in Louisville, Kentucky for the annual convention and expo of the FFA.  They were accompanied by advisors Duncan Pfaehler and Randi Leigh Davis.  The FFA is a national organization that develops student potential for leadership, personal growth, and career success through agriculture.  The participants from West-Oak High took part in competitions with teams from across the country.  Davis’s state-winning livestock evaluation team spent two days placing cattle, sheep, swine, and goats.  Three students earned silver awards and one student, a bronze.  At their central Kentucky location, the students visited agriculture sites and Churchill Downs, the site of the Kentucky Derby and Museum.
