West-Oak High band makes mark in weekend competition
The re-energized band program at West-Oak High School made a mark during a weekend of statewide competition, sponsored by high school band directors. The marching band placed fifth in overall 3-A competition, the highest finishing by the school. And Colt Campbell, band director, said West-Oak won a first place for music performance ensemble. In five years at the school, much credit has been given Campbell for building the program from a low of 30 members to a high today of 120. Campbell says he’ll accept partial credit, but credit must be shared by the students and a strong group of dedicated band parents.
