West Union eyes water improvements

A government service agency is giving West Union a boost as it goes about replacing under-sized water lines in three neighborhoods.  A representative of the South Carolina Appalachian Council of Governments yesterday led Mayor Linda Oliver through a document process to enable West Union to apply for an outside government grant.  “A-COG’s” Dirk Reis says it’s the intention that, with a grant of more than $275 thousand through the state’s Community Development Block Grant Program, that dis-colored water will no longer be a problem for water customers on Schroder Street, Burns Mill Road, and Dodd Hill Road.
